This boat is in very good condition Its design and construction methods far exceed the standards used on other boat of this era. Nothing is wanting on this boat . A little varnish to brighten the woodwork and this boat will shine and be as fast and competitive as a new boat. The sails are heavy duty weight and in good shape .The boat is more suited for cruising with its current sails but has the potential of being a racer. . Wide beam midship makes the boat very roomy for a 36 foot boat. The electronics are a little dated but functional . All lines lead aft fo the cockpit so all the trimming for the sails and traveller can be managed from the cockpit. A 5000 pound lead filled fin keel and a spade rudder make for a sleek fast hull. . Hull design make this boat very fast. On a Broad reach this boat will plane and get up to over 9 knots. This boat is a Racer/ Cruiser with a wide beam midship which makes this boat very stable. The main cabin has 6'4"""" head room. This boat was way ahead of its time when it was designed and built in 1984. designed by Bruce Nelson and built by Charlie Morgan. Bruce Nelson received his degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1975 where he was also an All-American intercollegiate sailor. His technical knowledge and skills were developed through formal education and experience with several large naval architectural firms prior to founding Nelson/Marek Yacht Design in 1978. As the founder and President of Nelson/Marek Yacht Design Bruce rapidly developed an international reputation as a leading designer and racer of fast offshore racing yachts. As the Principal Designer he assumes overall responsibility for the performance parameters and final shape of each Nelson/Marek design. Bruce also directs the firm's ongoing design research and performance development activities. Bruce has been a Principal Designer with a leading US team in every America's Cup competition since 1984 including Stars & Stripes (1987 1988 1992) Young America (1995) and AmericaOne (2000). Currently he is a co-principal designer for the One World America's Challenge Team. His involvement with each of these intensive design research and development programs has helped Nelson/Marek Yacht Design maintain its position on the leading edge of world-class yacht design.
